Ordering
How many pies do I need to order?
Packs come in multiples of 8. Order 8 for the week or go 16 or 24 to stock the freezer. One shipping fee whichever way.
Can I mix gluten-free and regular pies in one pack?
Yes, pies are individually bagged so you can mix them. That said, if you are coeliac we recommend ordering a separate GF-only pack to avoid any risk of cross-contamination during handling. You can build a dedicated GF-only pack here.
Do you do bulk or corporate orders?
Yes. For orders of 50+ pies get in touch at carla@pioneerpies.co.nz and we will sort you out.
Can I ask a question about my order?
Of course. Email carla@pioneerpies.co.nz and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.
Delivery & Pick Up
What is the order cut-off?
Delivery Order by 12pm Monday for Wednesday dispatch. Pies are baked fresh and shipped via overnight courier for delivery Thursday. Pick up Order by 12pm the day before your chosen pick up date. Select your preferred date and time at checkout and let us know if you would like your pies hot or cold.
Can I pick up in store?
Yes. Pick up is available at our Albany store. Select your preferred pick up date and time at checkout and let us know if you would like your pies hot or cold.
Where do you ship to?
We ship to urban addresses throughout the North and South Islands. Unfortunately we cannot deliver to rural addresses. Overnight shipping is essential to keep the pies fresh and chilled, and rural delivery takes too long.
Do you ship to rural addresses?
No. Unfortunately we cannot deliver to rural addresses. Our pies travel via overnight courier with ice packs to keep them chilled, and rural delivery takes too long to guarantee they arrive in the best condition. If you are just outside an urban area, get in touch at carla@pioneerpies.co.nz and we will do our best to help.
How much does shipping cost?

One flat fee per order regardless of how many pies you order. We use overnight courier with custom packaging and ice packs to make sure your pies arrive chilled and in the best condition — that is what keeps the cost what it is, and we think it is worth it.
How are the pies packaged?
Every pie is individually bagged and packed in a custom-designed, double-walled food grade cardboard box with ice packs to keep them chilled throughout transit. The box is designed to prevent movement so your pies arrive in the best condition.
What if my pies arrive damaged?
That is on us. Get in touch at carla@pioneerpies.co.nz with a photo and we will send you a replacement box.

Do you have an ingredients list?

Are your GF pies safe for coeliacs?
Our GF pies have been independently lab tested by AsureQuality and came back with less than 3ppm gluten, effectively zero. We have been making GF pies for over 10 years and take every precaution. However, we are a small premises that also makes regular pies, so we ask coeliac customers to make an informed decision.
Do you have vegan options?
Yes. Use the Vegan filter above to see all vegan pies currently available. All vegan pies are clearly labelled.
What allergens are in your pies?
Common allergens across our range include gluten, dairy, soy and eggs. Full ingredient lists are available on each pie's product page. For detailed allergen information visit our Allergen & Dietary Info page.
Storage & Heating
How long do the pies keep?
Keep in the fridge for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 6 months. They freeze beautifully with no quality lost.
How do I heat up my pies?
Oven
From Temp Time
Cold 180°C 15 mins
Frozen 170°C 40 mins
Air fryer
From Temp Time
Cold 180°C 8-10 mins
Frozen 170°C 15-18 mins
Microwave Not ideal but it works. Wrap in baking paper and microwave for up to 50 seconds from cold. From frozen: microwave on high for 2 minutes, then finish in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes for a proper crust. Times may vary depending on your oven or appliance.
